Second generation
The son learned from the father. Now they work side by side.
Most agencies are one person and a phone number. Ours has two Eckbergs in the office: the one who started it, and the one who runs it.

Scott Eckberg opened his Farmers agency in Bakersfield in 1985 and spent decades insuring the families, farms and businesses of Kern County the old way: in person, by name. Charles learned the business working for his dad, then in 2015 earned his own Farmers appointment and opened his own agency across town.
A few years ago the two agencies became one. Scott folded his book into Charles's, and instead of retiring he stayed on, working alongside his son and the same clients he has known for decades. Nobody got a form letter. Every household kept its coverage, its history and a person who already knew the file.
Charles grew up here, studied business at CSU Bakersfield and runs the agency as a small business owner himself, which is why commercial clients tend to stay. Today the office pairs that history with modern service: text-in service requests, e-signature, same-day callbacks and a named team member on every account.
I started out answering my dad's phones. Now he answers mine, and our clients get both of us.
